John Mayer's beautiful guitar tones have always captured Henrik Nordvang's imagination. He remains continually inspired by his warm and dynamic overdrive tones. And the challenge of recreating these has long interested him... first as a player, and now as a pedal builder.
The Nordvang Triple Gain is based on three classic overdrive circuits:
BB-circuit, TS-10, and the K-circuit...
Each of these pedals has played, and continues to play, a significant role in John Mayer's tone. They all contribute individually, but it is stacking them together which helps Mayer create his signature drive tones. It enables him to create different textures and shape his tone, in a way that is not possible with single pedals alone.
Gain stacking provided the inspiration for Nordvang's Gravity pedal. They saw how Mayer stacked his Klon and TS-10 together in songs like 'Gravity' and 'Belief' to dial in his signature tone.
And with the Triple Gain, Nordvang has taken this one step further. Adding the BB into the mix gives you further gain stacking and tone shaping options. And this will enable you to dial in a wide range of drive tones and recreate specific tones from Mayer's different eras.
The BB stacked into the TS-10 will help you recreate the tones you hear on albums like Continuum and in Mayer´s earlier live performances. The K-circuit stacked into the TS-10 (or vice versa) will help you create Mayer´s tone from more recent years. And should you want to push beyond these tones into higher gain territory, you can stack all three overdrives together.
After all, whilst the pedal was inspired by John Mayer, it works well for anyone looking to dial in a variety of blues and blues rock tones. The pedals that Nordvang has recreated in the Triple Gain are some of the most iconic drive pedals of all time, and they have gone to great lengths to capture the essence of these pedals, whilst making a few choice upgrades.
These are as follows...
BB-circuit:
Of the three pedals in the Triple Gain, we have made the most changes to the BB-circuit. We have raised the internal voltage supply from 9v to 18v (but ONLY USE 9 volt power supply), giving the pedal improved headroom and dynamics. We have also increased the minimum gain level slightly, and changed the taper of the gain and volume potentiometers from audio to linear, resulting in an improved response. Lastly, we have added an external toggle switch for a high gain mode, an internal trim pot for presence control and a dip switch for different clipping diode options.
K-circuit:
With the K-circuit, we stuck as closely to the original as possible. The one significant change we have made here is to the electrolytic capacitors, which we removed from the signal chain and replaced with premium Wima polyester capacitors. The diodes used are NOS Russian germanium.
TS-10:
To capture the true TS-10 tone we have stuck closely to the original and focused solely on quality. As such, we are using original NOS Toshiba 1S1588 diodes and 2SC1815 transistors. The main change here is the addition of an internal dip switch which adds an extra pair of clipping diodes in the overdrive stage for increased headroom and a more open sound.
The signal chain of The Triple Gain runs from the Bluesbreaker to the Klon and then into the TS-10. However external toggle switches allow you to alter the signal chain, stacking the TS-10 into the Klon, as well as adjusting the gain level of the BB. This gives you a broad variety of stacking and tone shaping options, taking you from soft break up all the way through to much higher levels of saturation.
TRS-SPLIT: With the Triple Gain, you can split the TS10, K-circuit and BB into three separate effects, to use with a pedalboard switcher. Using "TRS to dual TS" cables you have IN+OUT for each effect, via the "OUT", "SPLIT-B" and "IN" jacks on the top of the pedal.
Circuit A (left):
- Replica of the TS10 audio circuit (Non buffered bypass).
- RC4558 Operational Amplifier
- Internal dip switch for diode clipping settings.
* 2-diode symmetrical for the classic tubescreamer feel.
* 4-diode symmetrical for more headroom and less compression.
- Original Toshiba 1s1588 silicon diodes as in the original TS10 JP
Circuit B (Middle):
- Replica of the K-circuit.
*High quality buffer.
- NOS germanium diodes
- Russian D9B.
- Russian D9B.
External ORDER switch to select in which order the signal passes through circuit A & B.
Circuit C (Right):
- Replica of the circuit of the first BB1 - Black Box Blues Breaker circuit.
* Supply voltage is boosted to 18 volt (but ONLY USE 9 volt power supply)
* Increased minimum gain level
- External toggle switch for selecting between std. gain and high gain mode.
- Internal presence trim potentiometer
- Internal dip switches for clipping diode settings.
* 4-diode symmetrical clipping (default)
* 6-diode symmetrical clipping for less compression.
* Open setting with no clipping diodes, high headroom and loads of output.
- NOS Telefunken clipping diodes
The Triple Gain is built using carefully selected top shelf components:
- VISHAY 1% metalfilm resistors
- WIMA MKP10, MKS4 and FKP2 film capacitors - no electrolytes in the audio circuit.
- VIMEX sealed potentiometers
- Taiway footswitches
- TAIWAY toggle switches
- PURE TONE MULTI-CONTACT 1/4" JACK
- Silver plated teflon insulated cable for internal wiring.
- US made DAVIES MOULDING 1470 and 1400 knobs
- Dimension: 7.4 in x 4.72 in x 1.46 in (188 mm x 120 mm x 37 mm)
POWER SUPPLY (sold separately):
This pedal does not use batteries, it uses a 2.1mm plug, 9 Volt DC, Center-Negative power supply, (like most all guitar pedals use). Any power supply higher than 9 Volt DC can damage the pedal. The max power consumption of the Triple Gain is 150mA (+9VDC). If operated with a power supply with insufficient current capabilities, it will affect the performance. So make sure your +9V-DC power supply is capable of delivering 150mA. Nordvang recommends you to use a quality power supply with isolated outputs.

great book

I am really excited to meet the author at the book retreat this month. I really enjoyed this world that she built and most of the female main character Huntress is so awesome. She goes through a lot in this book and the ending; wow! I wouldn't have even guessed. I highly recommend everyone to read this book.
I have been so lucky this year that almost all the books I have read have been, so far, 5 out 5 stars.

Fallen for the Fallen Angel – A Guilty Pleasure Worth Every Page

There’s something deeply irresistible about a dark academia or trial-based setting, a brooding and arrogant fallen angel, and a fierce heroine with enough sass to go toe-to-toe with him. Wings So Wicked is exactly that kind of book—and I devoured it in just a couple of days.
To be fair, the plot isn’t groundbreaking. If you’re looking for something fresh and innovative in terms of storyline, this might not be it. But if your reader heart beats faster at the mere mention of enemies-to-lovers, jealousy-fueled banter, magical trials, betrayals, and forbidden tension—you’ll feel right at home. It’s like catnip for those of us with this particular weakness.
The chemistry between the leads could have used a slightly slower burn to make the tension sizzle longer, but I still found myself completely invested in their dynamic. There are moments and phrases that feel a bit cheesy or underdeveloped, but honestly? I didn’t care. The vibes were exactly what I wanted.
This book isn’t trying to reinvent the genre—it’s here to give readers like me what we crave: high-stakes magical drama, angsty romance, and the thrill of watching a badass girl and her brooding counterpart clash and spark. If that sounds like your kind of story, Wings So Wicked will hit the mark.
Here’s hoping Book 2 turns up the heat and keeps the magic alive.

my new favorite book

Ok so I never write reviews but this book was so good I felt the need to write this. Firstly your introduced to Huntyr you see her closed off hard core badass than towards the end you see the most subtle change and growth it’s amazing and the enemies to friends to lovers was just perfect, AND THE TWIST AT THE END GOT ME GOOD! You see one spicy scene the whole book but it doesn’t even MATTER BECAUSE THE BOOK WAS THAT GOOD. I’ve read 85 books in 2023-2024 so far and I’m pround to say this is my all time favorite. I’m so excited to read more of Emily Blackwoods books, this was my first time reading one of hers and I’m glad I did because HOLY!! Well done Emily well done

Fast paced romantasy you will not want to put down!

4.25 stars! I LOVED this book with similar vibes to Hush Hush, Fourth Wing, and The Serpent and the Wings of Night! It was fast paced with easy world building and will keep you turning the pages late into the night because you will not want to put it down!
Huntyr is a fierce bad@ss FMC trained to kill vampyres her entire life. She is sent on a mission to go to the academy and earn her spot into The Golden City. Upon arrival, she is forced to room with the delicious fallen angel, Wolf, who is the only one who knows about her assassin identity. The romance, the plot twists, the secrets revealed, the battles, and the tantalizing training scenes had me hooked! And that ending…. I’m holding my breath in need to know hell!

Excellent Rivals to Lovers!!

The tension and banter between Huntyr and Wold was delectable. I absolutely love the fallen angel and all of his flaws. Huntyr is amazing too being a badass FMC with some major trauma. The world building was great and I enjoyed the training aspect of the story. The writing was immersive and was in the story the whole time. The ending had quite a twist that I hadn’t anticipated and made my jaw DROP. Excellent job! I also loved the narration. Laura is one of my fave narrators!
